- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- For the Cherry Buttercream Frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter (softened), 3 – 4 cups confectioner’s sugar, cherry extract or maraschino cherry juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to wet ingredients until just incorporated.
- Spread dough evenly onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely on a rack.
- For frosting, beat softened butter with confectioner’s sugar and flavoring until smooth; spread over cooled bars.
