  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red no flavor food coloring gel
  • 2 packages instant cheesecake pudding mix (3.4 ounce)
  • 4 cups milk
  • 32 ounces strawberries, halved
  • 2224 ounces blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy in a stand mixer. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in buttermilk, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Cool the cakes completely before cutting into cubes or shapes.
  6. Prepare the pudding by whisking together pudding mix with cold milk; chill for five minutes.
  7. In a trifle bowl or individual cups, layer half of the cake cubes, pudding, strawberries, and blueberries. Repeat layers.
  8. Top with whipped topping and star-shaped cake pieces for decoration.
