  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté chopped onion for 2 minutes.

  3. Stir in minced garlic; cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Mix in spices and tomato paste until evenly combined.
  5. Pour in beef broth and scrape up any bits from the pot's bottom.
  6. Add fire-roasted tomatoes and both types of beans; bring to a boil.
  7. Lower heat and simmer covered for 1–2 hours, stirring occasionally.
