Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter (divided)
- 15 cups mini marshmallows
- 12 cups crispy rice cereal (divided)
- 1½ teaspoons clear vanilla extract (divided)
- Red and blue food coloring
Instructions
- Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt ¼ cup butter. Add in 5 cups of mini marshmallows, stirring until almost melted. Reduce heat to low.
- Stir in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and red food coloring until blended. Mix in 4 cups of crispy rice cereal until coated.
- Pour mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing it down firmly.
- For the white layer, repeat melting process without food coloring, then pour over the red layer.
- Finally, create the blue layer using the same melting method with blue food coloring.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into star shapes with a cookie cutter.
