Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough bread (thick)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 medium Granny Smith apple (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the Granny Smith apple and gather all ingredients.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread generously.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer half the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, followed by apple slices and dried cranberries. Top with remaining cheese and place the other slice of bread on top with the buttered side facing up.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for 3-5 minutes until golden brown, then carefully flip it using a spatula and grill for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and melted.
  5. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
