  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature for frosting)
  • 1 ¼1 ½ cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons Bourbon Caramel Sauce
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 ½ ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 3 tablespoons butter (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted, plus more if needed)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a saucepan, bring apple cider to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until it reduces to about 1/4 cup. Let cool.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs; mix well. Stir in reduced apple cider and apple butter/applesauce.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Drop mounds of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them three inches apart. Bake for 11-13 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Cool on racks before filling each pie with your choice of frosting.
