Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (very soft) for filling
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar for filling
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for filling
  • 2 large bananas (thinly sliced) for filling
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (slightly warmed for topping)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature) for frosting
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened) for frosting
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar for frosting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 120-130°F. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, sugar, salt, and mashed banana. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour and yeast until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth (8-10 minutes) and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  3. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly. Top with sliced bananas.
  5. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into equal pieces.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; pour warmed heavy cream over them. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, mix cream cheese frosting ingredients until smooth; spread over warm rolls.
