- 1 ½ – 2 pounds flank steak
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Combine all spice mix ingredients in a small bag and set aside.
- In a large freezer bag, whisk together marinade ingredients and add 3 tablespoons of the spice mix. Add the flank steak, seal tightly, and refrigerate for 4-12 hours to marinate.
- Mix any remaining spice mix with olive oil to create a rub.
- Remove steak from marinade and pat dry. Apply the spice rub evenly over all sides.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill steak for about 5-6 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 130-135°F for medium rare.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
