  • 7 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream the softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until smooth.
  3. Mix in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat them in red sanding sugar.
  6. Place on the baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes.
  7. Immediately press a Hershey chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie after removing from the oven.
  8. Let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
