- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Filling: 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp orange zest
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- Glaze: 4 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp orange zest
- 2 Tbsp orange juice
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let sit until frothy.
- Scald the milk and whisk in salt, sugar, and melted butter; cool slightly.
- Combine potato flakes with hot water until smooth.
- In a stand mixer, mix yeast mixture, milk mixture, potato mix, and beaten egg. Gradually add flour to form a sticky dough and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about an hour or until doubled.
- Prepare filling by mixing sugar, ginger, orange zest, and enough orange juice to resemble wet sand.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread with butter and sprinkle filling evenly before rolling tightly.
