  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a thick batter.
  5. Pour the batter into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  7. Carefully pour very hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes or until set in the middle; let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
