Ingredients

  • 45 black peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 green cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the smoky black tea to the pot and steep for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the milk and brown sugar, allowing it to simmer on low heat for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and strain into mugs before serving.
