- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (filling)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (filling)
- 1/4 cup whole milk (topping)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (topping)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (topping)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (topping)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole milk, sourdough starter, cane sugar, and egg. Mix well.
- Gradually add in bread flour and sea salt. Knead with a stand mixer until smooth.
- Incorporate unsalted butter and knead until elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl to rise for about 3-4 hours or until doubled.
- Prepare filling by mixing softened butter with sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread filling and roll tightly into a log. Cut into equal pieces.
- Allow rolls to rise for another 2 hours on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Make topping by whisking together whole milk, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla; drizzle over warm rolls.
