  • 1 3/4 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Core and chop the apples into large chunks. Add them to a large pot along with apple juice and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer and cover. Cook for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until well combined.
  4. Blend the mixture using an immersion blender or standing blender until smooth.
  5. Return the blended mixture to the pot and cook uncovered for another 30-45 minutes over medium heat until thickened, stirring frequently.
